The path to happiness: transforming difficulties into joy

From the winding bends of the “Pain Road,” the 11km journey from Laksao town to the Lao/Viet Nam factory of Thanh Hung Group has undergone a miraculous transformation. Now, this road is not merely a pathway but also a symbol of development, solidarity, and the happiness of the local people.

Previously, the 11 km road from Laksao town to the Lao/Viet Nam factory of Thanh Hung Group was known as “Painful” reflecting the difficulties and challenges that the residents faced. The potholes and muddy sections of the road became a nightmare for travelers. In the dry season, dust rose like a storm, while in the rainy season, the mud was slippery and treacherous, making travel a torment.

These difficulties not only affect the daily lives of the people in the Nongpong and Supkhuon villages but also impact the production activities of the factory. Before 2023, transportation plans always had to be made prior to the rainy season, because even a small rain could render all transportation vehicles almost unable to operate.

With the motto of “Business and social responsibility go hand in hand” Thanh Hung Group has dedicated hundreds of millions of KIP each year to support the renovation of the local traffic system. In March 2023, the collaboration between the group and the local government initiated a major project: the renovation of this road.

Under the direction of Mr. Bui Dam Ca – the manager of the Laos/Viet Nam international factory belonging to Thanh Hung Group, the dedicated team quickly got to work. In just over a month and a half, 11 km of road have been renovated, including nearly 4 km that have been paved smoothly, with a total investment of more than 4 billion KIP.

When the new road is completed, the joy does not only belong to the drivers or factory workers but also spreads to all the residents in the area. They can now move easily, something that seemed unimaginable before.

In the future, Thanh Hung Group along with the Lao/Viet Nam factory shall continue to support the local area in paving the remaining road sections, turning the “Happiness Road” into a meaningful reality, contributing to socio-economic development and strengthening the friendship between the two countries of Viet Nam and Laos.
